I began reading bedtime stories to my child to support their development and to plant a lifelong love of reading. Started as a routine, but now we’ve both completely hooked! Always looking for the next book. We eventually started making up our own stories and drawing them out together. I love how what started as a routine became our shared moments of creativity.
This illustration was made in response to spotting an AI-generated poster in my local library. At home, I started sketching ideas to process that feeling, and one concept stands out.
The result is a poster I made as a love letter, a combination of my happy places: Illustrating animal characters and reading children’s literature. It is also a tribute to the world of Richard Scarry, one of my main childhood inspirations.
I wanted to show how books written and illustrated by real people can be deeply impactful, spark creativity, and produce something genuine from the heart for the world to see.
And it all started with getting hooked on a good book.
